Firmware update
The new firmware update for the EOS C70 further enhances its capabilities with the inclusion of 4K60P ALL-I recording, eye detection AF, face and eye detection AF in slow and fast motion recording modes (S and F), audio level display of up to 4 channels, and compatibility with Canon's XC protocol. It also offers full compatibility with the new Flex Zoom CN-E 20-50mm T2.4 L F/FP and CN-E 45-135mm T2.4 L F/FP lenses, as well as the Cine Servo CN8x15 IAS S E1/P1.

Compact camera, cinematic quality
Shooting with DSLR and mirrorless cameras is gaining popularity. The EOS C70 bridges the gap between two Canon product lines: the range of compact digital cameras with interchangeable lenses and the EOS Cinema System cameras. Adopting Canon's RF mount, which has a short distance between the mount and the focal plane, has made the compact design of the EOS C70 possible. Although the camera is the smallest and lightest in Canon's EOS Cinema System range, it is packed with features that meet a wide array of professional video needs. It boasts 13 assignable buttons, a multifunction grip for easier handling, professional input/output connections including HDMI and 2 mini XLR terminals for audio, as well as an independent ventilation system. Additionally, a new thinner ND filter system, capable of providing up to 10 stops of ND filtering, gives filmmakers greater control over exposure and depth of field.

Bringing the RF world to cinema
The range of Canon RF lenses is renowned for its excellent image quality and functionality. The mount technology has been designed to provide advanced advantages for video use and is ideal for the Canon EOS Cinema System range. These features provide filmmakers using the EOS C70 with a complete selection of high-quality lenses from the growing RF range, including telephoto lenses, zoom lenses, fixed focal length lenses, large aperture lenses, and macro lenses. For optimal image stabilization, the EOS C70 activates the combined image stabilizer, which combines the Optical Image Stabilization (Optical IS) incorporated in RF lenses and the Electronic Image Stabilization (Electronic IS) of the camera body, for spectacular stabilization performance, even when shooting handheld. The enhanced communication capability between the lens and the camera also allows for additional features, such as the ability to display the subject distance on the camera's LCD screen.
The EF-EOS R 0.71x Mount Adapter employs optical conversion to capture the full-frame field of view of an EF lens, even when used with a Super 35mm sensor, and also increases light transmission by approximately 1 stop. The adapter allows full communication between the EF lens and the camera body, providing seamless compatibility with Canon's extensive range of EF lenses. Autofocus, peripheral illumination correction, chromatic aberration correction, and lens metadata transfer are also supported when using the EF-EOS R 0.71x Mount Adapter.

Impeccable 4K image quality

Taking advantage of its Super 35 mm Dual Gain Output (DGO) sensor, which is featured in the renowned EOS C300 Mark III, the EOS C70 offers exceptional image quality with more than 16 stops of dynamic range. Like the EOS C300 Mark III, the EOS C70 delivers the same true-to-life, cinematic colors and exceptionally clean image quality in low light, along with extraordinary HDR imaging capabilities. Thanks to its DGO sensor and the powerful DIGIC DV 7 processor, the EOS C70 is the ideal choice for professionals who want to produce high-quality 4K content. It also allows for slow-motion recording with 4K 120p recording, Dual Pixel CMOS AF autofocus, as well as audio recording. For those who want to record at even faster speeds, 180p is also available in Super 16 mode. Recording on either of its two SD card slots in Canon's XF-AVC format at 4K 4:2:2 10-bit, the EOS C70 allows for high-resolution image capture for a wide range of applications, from documentaries to news, music videos, or web content.

Compatibility with HDR recording

Enjoy a dynamic range of more than 16 stops when recording in Canon Log 2, with almost cinematic features that will allow you to achieve enhanced flexible grading and shadows with more detailed levels.

Canon Log 3 also provides exceptional dynamic range, while offering a more efficient grading workflow and minimizing noise in the shadows.

The EOS C70 also features Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) and Perceptual Quantization (PQ) for instant internal recording of HDR content without the need for grading.

Enhanced compatibility features

The EOS C70 offers a series of firsts within the EOS Cinema System range. In addition to being compatible with the renowned Dual Pixel AF autofocus system, it is also the first camera in the EOS Cinema System to incorporate the revolutionary EOS iTR AF X (Intelligent Tracking and Recognition) system, which is also featured in the recently launched EOS R5. This system uses a face and head detection algorithm developed using deep learning technology. Working alongside Face Detection AF, this feature significantly improves the reliability of focus and subject tracking. Additionally, the EOS C70 also incorporates Auto ISO adjustment for the first time in the EOS Cinema System range.

Canon also breaks new ground with the EOS C70, as it is the first camera in the EOS Cinema System with a specific vertical recording mode, designed to enable the recording of content for social media and digital signage.
