The lens is extremely versatile as an all-in-one lens with a very fast maximum aperture, providing a solution for photographers looking to avoid changing lenses during their sessions. It was clearly designed for portrait photography, but the wide zoom range also proves very useful for use in advertisements, events, or photo safaris.

Thanks to the latest optical design of 21 elements in 18 groups and featuring an optimal combination of 2 ASP, 2 ASP, 1 HB, 3 HR, and 6 ED, the lens offers superior optical performance throughout the zoom range. When combined with the full-frame image sensor of Sony cameras, the AF 35-150mm F2-2.8 FE delivers a high-quality image with contrast from the edges of the image.

Fast and accurate AF performance

The lens adopted a Linear Stepping Motor (STM), which is fast and very sensitive for both photographers and videographers. It offers excellent focus tracking and smooth transitions from the minimum object distance (MOD) to infinity. Its fast aperture also aids in controlling camera movement by allowing a higher shutter speed or reducing noise by choosing a low ISO. The system is compatible with Sony's Fast Hybrid AF and Eye AF camera functions, such as lens corrections for shading, chromatic aberration, and distortion.

The large-diameter aperture of the AF 35-150mm F2-2.8 FE offers an attractive blurred background in out-of-focus areas. The new design offers a visual and functional improvement, reflecting the feedback received from our customers, with a particular focus on tactile focus controls and precise adjustments to focal length changes. A lock switch on the body helps customers keep the lens at its shortest range, 35mm, and is a very useful protection system for travel.

Two round buttons made of soft rubber have a Focus Save function, which allows you to save two different focus points. Additionally, you can pre-program three customizable modes on the lens through the optional Lens Station, enabling you to set the mode that suits your preferences.

Optimized features for video recording

1) Par-Focal Digital: Par-focal Digital is specialized for video recording, as it is capable of keeping the subject in focus even when zooming in or out. Since this type of function is usually incorporated in very expensive cinema lenses, it provides a more special experience and better results for clients who use this type of zoom lenses.

2) Cinematic Video AF: When we are recording a video, the AF speed is adjusted more carefully than in photo mode, resulting in less oscillation and very stable video recording.

3) Linear MF Control: Provides comfort to cameramen by matching the torque of the focus ring as closely as possible to that of a manual focus lens when recording video in manual mode.

4) Dolly Zoom Shot: the Dolly Zoom is a very powerful cinematic technique. A professional dolly can be expensive and difficult to handle, but this lens allows you to perform a dolly shot with ease.

Weatherproof sealing design

Considering the environment in which our clients typically work, the lens has been designed to be completely sealed against the elements, especially at the mounting area. Sealing has been applied at 11 key points to prevent damage or contamination from dust, light, rain, and snow.

The AF 35-150mm F2-2.8 offers superior close-up capture performance for a full zoom. In the 35mm range, the MOD (or Minimum Object Distance) is 0.33mm. Combined with a fast lens aperture, it produces a unique perspective of the close subject while presenting a beautiful blurred background or bokeh. Users will also be able to capture a dynamic close-up by shooting at the maximum focal range (150mm), at a MOD of 0.85m. Facilitates taking portraits with exaggerated features, food on the table, etc.
