Appreciated for sports and wildlife applications, the EF 600 mm f / 4L IS III USM is a super Canon L series telephoto lens that is distinguished by its advanced and lightweight design, fast and intuitive handling and high speed performance. Using fluorite, Super UD and aspherical elements, chromatic and spherical aberrations are kept to a minimum to achieve a clear and clear image quality with accurate representation and color fidelity. Both Super Spectra and Air Sphere Coatings also contribute to color accuracy and help control flashes and ghost images when working in harsh and backlit lighting conditions.
In addition to its optical merits, the 600mm f / 4 is also characterized by its advanced five-stop image stabilizer system, which has three separate stabilization modes to accommodate various shooting applications. The operation is also complemented by a sophisticated USM ring, which provides fast, quiet and precise autofocus performance along with a full-time manual focus override. A customizable electronic focus ring further contributes to precise manual focus control by providing three levels of focus sensitivity for different applications. In addition, this lens is sealed against the weather for use in difficult environmental conditions and has a removable rotating tripod collar to benefit work on a tripod or monopod.
Super telephoto prime is designed for Canon full-frame Canon DSLR cameras, however, it can also be used with APS-C models where it provides an equivalent focal length of 960 mm.
The maximum bright aperture of f / 4 allows control over depth of field to work with selective focus techniques.
Super UD and fluorite elements are used to greatly reduce color stripes and chromatic aberrations to achieve greater clarity and color accuracy.
Aspherical elements help to limit spherical aberrations and distortion for greater sharpness and accurate representation.
Super Spectra and Air Sphere coatings have been applied to individual elements to control lens flare and phantom effect to obtain greater contrast and color fidelity when working in intense lighting conditions.
An optical image stabilizer helps minimize the appearance of camera shake in up to five shutter speed stops to allow for better work in low light conditions and with slower shutter speeds. Three different IS modes are available: standard single shot mode, an optimized pan mode and a mode that only activates the image stabilizer during exposure.
A ring-type ultrasonic motor (USM) is used, together with optimized focusing algorithms and a high-speed CPU, to deliver fast, accurate and quiet autofocus performance, as well as full-time manual focus override.
The customizable electronic focus ring provides three levels of sensitivity for the speed and accuracy with which the lens can focus manually
