Increases the maximum focal length. Although the maximum focal length has been increased, the minimum object distance remains practically the same, thus improving the magnification ratio during close focusing. Both teleconverters have been carefully designed and manufactured to preserve the superior original image quality of the lens. The 2.0x model uses an LD (Low Dispersion) lens element to suppress aberrations. BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coatings have been implemented on both models to minimize reflections and ghosting.

Autofocus and VC features are retained with compatible lenses. Autofocus works normally with compatible lenses. The performance of VC (Vibration Compensation) is retained.

Moisture and dust-resistant construction. The new teleconverters are ideal for outdoor photography when used with any moisture-resistant lens, as all joints and seals use special moisture and dust-resistant seals.

Robust and durable barrel design. The barrel frame of the teleconverters is made from die-cast aluminum, except for some parts of the exterior finish, to maintain superior strength when used with large lenses. The design uses a bayonet mount made of brass on the camera side and stainless steel on the lens side to ensure excellent durability even with repeated mounting and dismounting.
