The Tokina atx-i 11-20 mm F2.8 CF is designed as an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for DSLR cameras with APS-C sensor. It is the only fast f/2.8 ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for APS-C sized DSLR cameras on the current market.

The 11-20 mm focal length, which covers the equivalent angle of 18 mm, 21 mm, 24 mm, and 28 mm wide-angle lenses, makes this lens attractive for choosing after a standard zoom lens or a wide-angle zoom kit lens initially owned. A constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 is achieved across the entire zoom range to deliver excellent results in low-light conditions, for depth of field control and easy handheld shooting, while maintaining reasonable size and weight.

Optical Performance

To achieve the exceptional optical performance required for an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens, 3 aspherical glass elements and 3 super-low dispersion glass elements were used to minimize distortion, control spherical aberration and astigmatism, while achieving excellent edge-to-edge resolution and high contrast throughout the image. The multi-layer anti-reflective coating enhances light transmission and minimizes reflections, while the newly applied water-repellent coating facilitates cleaning the front glass element surface.

Build Quality and Exterior Design

True to its tradition, Tokina has incorporated many metal parts inside the lens to ensure reliable build quality and prolonged use in different shooting conditions. The sophisticated exterior design is specifically developed to match the design of contemporary DSLR cameras.

Mechanics and Electronics

The Tokina atx-i 11-20 mm F2.8 CF for Nikon F mount incorporates an internal Silent-Drive motor (SD-M) in combination with a precise GMR sensor to allow the lens to perform autofocus with accuracy and speed. The one-touch focus clutch mechanism allows for easy switching between autofocus and manual focus. The total length of the Tokina atx-i 11-20 mm F2.8 CF does not change while focusing and zooming due to the internal focus type. The zoom mechanism within the barrel allows the use of coupled C-PL filters.
