Sony FE 90mm f2.8 Macro G OSS (SEL-90M28G)

The first medium telephoto macro lens with E-mount and integrated image stabilization offers the superior quality of the G lens: high resolution up to 1:1 magnification and an incredible bokeh effect whenever you need it, even when recording without a tripod. The floating focusing mechanism ensures superior and uniform optical performance, regardless of distance.

The optics have been designed to coexist with E-mount cameras with full frame or APS-C sensors. Its architecture is quite complex, in fact, it incorporates 15 lenses organized in 11 groups, with one aspherical element, another low dispersion and a third very low dispersion. Its focal distance when installed in cameras with APS-C sensor is 135 mm, and its minimum focusing distance is 28 cm.

Its most striking assets are its SteadyShot OSS optical stabilization system and the DDSSM approach, which uses two supersonic wave motors to improve focusing accuracy and increase focusing speed.

Full-Frame Telephoto E-Mount Macro Lens

A first 90mm telephoto lens with 1: 1 macro capability, provides a f/2.8 maximum aperture for low light effectiveness and depth of field control. Compatible with full frame E-Mount cameras, it can also be used on E-mount APS-C cameras with a viewing angle equivalent to a 135mm lens in 35mm format / full screen.

Internal focus

Only the middle groups of the optical system are moved to achieve focus, so the overall length of the lens does not change. Other important benefits include fast autofocus and a short minimum focusing distance. In addition, the filter wire on the front of the lens does not rotate, which is convenient if you are using a polarizing filter.

Focus lock button

Once you have set the focus to which you want, pressing this button on the body of the lens will keep the lens locked so that the focus distance. The preview function can also be assigned to this button through the custom setting of the camera.

Limiting Focus Distance

This function allows you to set a limit on the focus range that can save you time during AF operation that the lens does not 'hunt' through the entire focus range. In this macro lens, three ranges are compatible: Full, infinity up to 19.7" and 11" to 19.7".

Direct Drive Super Sonic Wave AF Motor

Quiet DDSSM focusing unit, precise uses piezoelectric elements that oscillate at ultrasonic frequencies to drive the focus lens groups; in this case two floating focus groups are driven by independent DDSSM systems for precision positioning of the relatively heavy lenses needed for macro photography; the system is very quiet, making it ideal for animal and insect photography as well as for video recording; it also improves the accuracy of the "wobble focus" used to achieve an optimal focus when taking films.

Optical image stabilization of the base lens

gyroscopic sensors built into the lenses detect the slightest movement, and the stabilizing lens moves precisely to counteract any image distortion that might be. The use of precision, quiet linear motors and technology inherited from high-end Sony professional camcorders exceptionally quiet results in stabilization, the effective image that contributes to high quality movies, as well as still images.

Aspherical elements

aspherical lens design dramatically reduces spherical aberration while reducing lens size and weight. Especially in the form of aspherical elements near the diaphragm restore the alignment of light rays in the image plane, it maintains high sharpness and contrast even at maximum aperture and can also be used at other points in the optical path to reduce distortion.

ED and Super ED glass

Extra low dispersion and extra-super low dispersion glass elements reduce chromatic aberration for sharper, more accurate images.

Nano AR Coating

The Nano AR Coating's reflection suppression feature is superior to conventional anti-reflective coatings, providing a noticeable improvement in clarity, contrast and overall image quality.

Circular opening

By changing its aperture to blur the background, the light sources look blurry. This 'bokeh' effect of the blurred background can be enhanced with circular aperture leaves that are used in this lens. Its unique design keeps the almost perfect circular aperture from its totally open environment to when it is closed for 2 stops. Softer, more natural blur can be obtained as a result.

Dust and moisture Resistant design

A solid and attractive design is complemented by dust and moisture resistant sealing allowing this lens to be used in the field as well as in the studio.
