The SAMYANG AF 12 mm F/2 E offers an aperture of F/2 that allows for faster shutter speeds in astrophotography captures. It features 12 elements in 10 groups with 5 special lenses (1 H-ASP, 1 ASP, and 3 ED); the optical design incorporates three extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements (H-ASP and ASP) to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion to produce sharper images. Additionally, an Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) has been applied to reduce surface reflections, prevent flare and ghosting, enhance light transmission, and achieve images richer in contrast.

With its advanced optical design, the minimum focusing distance is only 0.19 m, allowing for easy capture of close-ups and indoor images, and it is capable of minimizing residual light.
