Awarded for the event, portrait and sports photography, the Nikon Sigma 70-200mm f / 2.8 DG-mount Nikon sports lens is a flexible telephoto lens characterized by its bright and sophisticated design. The fast maximum constant aperture of f / 2.8 excels in difficult lighting conditions and also offers greater control over depth of field to isolate subjects. With respect to the optical design, 10 impressive low dispersion elements are used to greatly reduce chromatic aberrations and color edges to improve clarity and color accuracy. A super multilayer coating is also offered, which helps suppress the ghost effect and flashes when working in intense lighting conditions.
Complementing the optics, is an intelligent operating system system, which minimizes the appearance of the camera's vibration to get sharper results when the handheld is triggered. A Hyper Sonic engine is also used to provide fast, silent autofocusing performance, along with full-time manual focus override. The physical design of the lens also incorporates several seals to protect against dust and moisture, and a water and oil repellent coating was applied on the exposed elements to prevent moisture, fingerprints or smudges from adhering to the surface. In addition, it offers a fixed rotating tripod collar, and has a removable foot compatible with Arca for wide compatibility with different tripod or monopod heads.

As part of the Sports line within the Sigma Global Vision series, this lens is designed to offer excellent optical performance, speed and other customizable features that make it an ideal choice for wildlife, sports, action and other subjects of rapid movements.
The versatile telephoto zoom is designed for Nikon F-mount cameras in FX format, however, it is also suitable for APS-C models where it provides an equivalent focal distance range of 105-300 mm.
The constant maximum aperture of f / 2.8 is suitable for working in low light conditions and also provides greater control over the focus position when using shallow depth of field techniques.
The optical design features a special low dispersion element (SLD) and nine low dispersion elements (FLD), which help reduce color fringes and chromatic aberrations to improve clarity and color accuracy, as well as spherical aberrations to reduce distortion and improve sharpness throughout the zoom range.
A super multilayer coating has been applied to the lens elements to minimize the reflection and ghost image of the lens and contribute to producing contrast-rich and neutral-color images, even in backlight conditions.

The elements of the front and rear lens have been treated with a water and oil repellent coating to benefit the work in adverse environmental conditions.
The diaphragm of 11 rounded blades contributes to a soft and pleasant bokeh quality.
The integrated HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) performs a fast and silent autofocus, which is complemented by an optimized AF algorithm to produce smoother focusing performance. The HSM also allows manual full-time focus control by simply turning the focus ring at any time.
An intelligent optical stabilizer system minimizes the appearance of camera shake to benefit from sharper images when a handheld is triggered.

The bayonet mount is made of brass to ensure accuracy and durability. In addition, the rubber seal is incorporated into the design of the holder to make it resistant to dust and splashes.
The tripod collar has a rotating design and the replaceable foot is compatible with Arca for easy mounting.
This lens is compatible with the optional Sigma USB cradle to adjust the different lens characteristics and update your firmware.
