The ultralight carbon tripod with a total weight (including the ball head) of only 980 g is specially designed for travel and city photographers.
The tripod head and shoulder are made of magnesium.
For transportation, the tripod legs can be folded 180 degrees, reducing the package size to just 33 cm.
Quick assembly and disassembly thanks to the quick-release screw connection. 360° rotating central column hook for attaching additional weight.
The tripod can also be used as a monopod.
The tripod can support a camera, including the lens, of up to 8 kg and reaches a height of 142 cm.
Rollei Compact Traveler No. 1 Carbon Tripod
Travel tripods for photographers are often masters of compromise and must combine reduced weight and volume with the best possible stability.
A travel tripod solves three challenges.
Rollei has once again intensively addressed each of these three seemingly contradictory requirements: the Rollei Compact Traveler No. 1 Carbon literally revolutionizes the conventional design of tripods. The tripod legs, which can be extended in four directions, can be rotated 180 degrees, allowing for an astonishingly small package size of just 33 cm. Combined with carbon, a high-tech, very stable, and lightweight material, the total weight of the Compact Traveler No. 1 is less than 1 kilogram, over 980 g, so even the professional travel photographer does not need to store it in their luggage. The carbon of the Rollei travel tripod is also responsible for the impressive load capacity of 8 kg, which corresponds to a weight/load ratio of 1/8. The swiveling legs of the tripod even allow for macro photography at ground level, which would otherwise require additional equipment.
The lightweight whose strength is invisible
The 360° panoramic spherical head of the Rollei Compact Traveler No. 1 Carbon can easily accommodate even professional SLR bodies with super telephoto lenses and other accessories using the standardized quick-release plate compatible with Arca Swiss, allowing for quick subject changes. The stable spikes with soft end caps ensure a firm position on any surface, and a freely rotating hook on the central column further increases stability when you hang your camera bag or any weight on it.
Ready to travel and fully equipped.
The legs of the tripod can be quickly extended to a maximum height of 142 cm using the quick-release screw connection. For particularly challenging situations, the Rollei Compact Traveler No. 1 Carbon Travel Tripod can also be used as a monopod; of course, a separate bag is included in the Rollei shipment. You will also receive a wide and comfortable shoulder carrying strap, all necessary tools, and a bag that can also be comfortably carried as a backpack.
Tested and awarded in the Tripods category
The Chip magazine has already tested the compact travel tripod. The professional and independent test was conducted in the tripod category. The Rollei Compact Traveler No. 1 Carbon stood out against high-priced competitor tripods with a GOOD quality rating. Particularly praised was the high stability despite the very lightweight. The only drawback is that when the center column is fully extended (second element fully extended), stability is somewhat reduced under heavier weight and in wind gusts.
The measured values showed a stability of 98% in windy conditions with the center column retracted. When the center column is fully extended and exposed to the wind, the measured value falls to 87%. However, this is a sensational value for a travel tripod that weighs only 980 grams.
The Compact Traveler No. 1 Carbon scored a total of 92 points for stability. The Compact Traveler No. 1 also received an overall rating of GOOD with 82.1%. It performs more than satisfactorily as a tripod for city, nature, and travel. Additionally, it is included in the list of the best tripods, ranking 36th. A truly superior performance for a travel tripod.
