Tamron presents the brand's first ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for Canon RF-S mirrorless cameras with Aps-c sensors, offering continuous aperture throughout the focal range, enjoying excellent F2.8 brightness across all its focal lengths.
This lens has an equivalent of 17.6-32 mm in 35 mm format and, given its compact size and light weight, is the perfect companion for everyday use while providing maximum performance.
Even at its widest point of 11 mm, it achieves a minimum focusing distance of just 15 cm, allowing us to create impressive frames and even achieve a macro ratio of 1:4.
Its 7-blade diaphragm creates a beautiful circular effect in blurred shapes both in photography and content creation, providing a gorgeous bokeh in our compositions. Its sealed construction allows for safe use even when weather conditions are not ideal, including nighttime humidity when used in astrophotography.
Very bright ultra-wide-angle zoom lens
The new 11-20 mm with a maximum constant aperture of F2.8 gives us the opportunity to capture landscapes and architecture with a unique dynamic perspective typical of ultra-wide-angle lenses. It is also ideal for taking group portraits in indoor spaces and real estate photography, thanks to its wide focal distances.
In its longer focal length settings, it allows us to capture everyday moments with a natural field of view more similar to our sight, while at the same time providing a beautiful and smooth bokeh effect with rounded shapes thanks to its F2.8 aperture.
Compact and lightweight
We are looking at a product designed, developed, and built for Canon's Aps-C mirrorless cameras. It has been designed to offer a compact and lightweight solution, standing out at first contact for being light and compact, allowing us to shoot without worrying about the weight of the equipment.
When used with a mirrorless camera body compatible with Aps-c, you will experience the freedom to take photos without a tripod and enjoy the convenience of recording videos even with a compact tripod. The RF-SD mount includes an AF/MF switch for greater versatility. Additionally, the lens incorporates a connection port that allows users to update its firmware to the latest version using the TAMRON Lens UtilityTM software.
Outstanding optical quality
Great results are based on solid foundations. The optical construction uses 12 elements grouped into 10 groups, including two GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements to maintain high resolution throughout the image area. It also incorporates an XLD (extra-low dispersion) element and two LD (low dispersion) elements to effectively suppress aberrations and ensure sharp image quality. Its BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) coating minimizes ghosting and flare, faithfully reproducing details even in backlit conditions.
Minimum focusing distance and 1:4 ratio
It is not a macro lens, but... with a minimum effective autofocus focusing distance, it achieves a 1:4 ratio, surpassing many other lenses with similar focal features. This allows for wide-angle macro photography and creative shallow depth of field effects, enhancing the prominence of the subject over blurred backgrounds.
High-performance AF system for video and photography
The new Tamron 11-20 mm F2.8 Di III-A RXD for Canon RF-S is equipped with TAMRON's patented RXD motor unit, providing high-speed and precision autofocus. It accurately captures moving subjects and is suitable for both still photography and video. Its silent RXD stepping motor is ideal for capturing moments where noise might be a concern, whether to not interfere with the naturalness of the photography or the audio of our content.
