The layout of the components, the body structure and the internal mechanisms have been thoroughly redesigned without affecting the performance of this full-frame camera. Furthermore, the ease of handling and the robustness of its body have been optimized, which is approximately 19% 8 smaller and 22% lighter than the α7 III (it only weighs 509 grams) 9.

Expressiveness only possible with a full-frame sensor
A 35mm full-frame image sensor is 30 times larger than a 1 / 2.3-type smartphone sensor and 2.3 times larger than an APS-C sensor. By capturing much more light, it enables new creative possibilities with a wide dynamic range, less noise, and higher perceived resolution. Deep bokeh is also achieved with a shallow depth of field in combination with a bright full-frame (wide aperture) lens.

The backlit Exmor R ™ CMOS sensor and the BIONZ X ™ image processor work together like a charm. The extra-large pixels of a 24.2 megapixel full-frame sensor10 capture more light, for a wide 15-stop dynamic range11 and smoother gradations in shadows and highlights. Excellent subject resolution and reduced noise combine with accurate color reproduction for incredibly accurate skin tones and natural textures.

Bokeh is a selective focus with a blurred background that makes the subject stand out. Portraits or close-ups are enhanced with new meaning and depth. The α7C, with its full-frame sensor, achieves the bokeh effect when a smaller sensor camera with a lens with the same F-points couldn't. When combined with over 50 available Sony lenses, the α7C is an excellent choice for creative photo composition and movie recording.

Included with the camera body is the FE 28-60mm f / 4-5.6 wide-to-normal long zoom, featuring a retractable design and sleek profile to complement the compact camera body. The slim design makes this lens ideal for touring, everyday shooting, and the flexible focal length range benefits a wide range of subject types. The optical design incorporates three aspherical elements, which help reduce distortion and spherical aberrations and promote greater sharpness and accurate rendering. Complementing the optics are a linear motor and internal focusing design, achieving fast and quiet autofocus performance for photo and video needs. The lens body is also weather sealed to allow working in harsh environmental conditions.
