Complementing the optics there is an exclusive double magnet linear motor approach system, which provides a high speed and power response while remaining compact. The wide-angle zoom is designed for cameras without a full-frame L-mount mirror, however, it can also be used with APS-C models where it provides an equivalent focal length range of 24-52.5 mm.
