Characterized by its large sensor, advanced imaging capabilities, and modular design, the GFX 50S from FUJIFILM It is a unique mirrorless medium format camera that is very versatile and clearly portable. At the heart of the GFX camera system is the 43.8 x 32.9 mm and 51.4 MP CMOS sensor, which is paired with the X-Processor Pro image processor to produce files with an extremely wide dynamic range and high resolution, as well as an expanded sensitivity range of ISO 50-102400 for working in challenging lighting conditions. The large form factor of the sensor also achieves a unique three-dimensional look with especially smooth tonal and color transitions. Beyond this, the combination of sensor and processor also offers the ability to work in a variety of aspect ratios common to traditional large and medium format film cameras, as well as the capability to shoot up to 3 fps or record Full HD 1080p / 30 video. Despite how cutting-edge the GFX 50S is, its use of a design inspired by a film camera gives it intuitive operation and the ability to apply the camera system to a myriad of imaging styles and methods.

Complementing the image assets is a truly versatile physical design that supports multiple ways of working with the camera. A detachable 3.69-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder can be used for high-resolution eye-level viewing and can be paired with an optional tilting adapter to allow working with the finder from various working angles. Alternatively, the 3.2" 2.36-million-dot rear touchscreen LCD features a three-way tilting design that allows for working from high and low angles, even when shooting in vertical orientation. Operability is further enhanced by the use of several dedicated dials to adjust exposure settings, and there is also a top LCD screen to quickly check settings and exposure data. Additionally, the GFX 50S has a magnesium alloy construction that is lightweight and durable, and it is also sealed against dust and weather, as well as freeze-proof down to 14°F, to work in harsh environmental conditions.

51.4 MP CMOS sensor and X-Processor Pro
Using a large 43.8 x 32.9 mm 51.4 MP CMOS sensor and X-Processor Pro, the GFX 50S is capable of delivering high-resolution 14-bit still images with a wide dynamic range of 14 stops, as well as a wide sensitivity range of ISO 100-12800, which can be expanded to ISO 50-102400. The large size of each pixel also allows for more efficient light gathering, resulting in smoother tonal and color transitions to produce a characteristic three-dimensional "medium format look." Film simulation modes, including a color chrome effect to produce a subtle gradation between highly saturated colors, can also be used alongside video recording to reduce the need for color correction during post-production.

Body design

• The magnesium alloy body construction is lightweight and durable, and the camera system is sealed in 58 places to make it weather and dust resistant, as well as freeze-proof down to 14°F, for use in adverse conditions.

• Based on a modular concept, it includes a detachable OLED electronic viewfinder with 3.69 million dots for high-resolution eye-level viewing and 0.85x magnification, and it can be paired with an optional EVF-TL1 tilt adapter to position the viewfinder at a variety of working angles.

• The detachable electronic viewfinder connects to the camera body through the hot shoe, and the electronic viewfinder has its own hot shoe to maintain compatibility with optional external flashes.

• A 3.2" touchscreen LCD with 2.36 million dots is also available for image playback, menu navigation, and live view shooting. This LCD screen features a unique tilting design that moves 45° downward and 90° upward for shooting from high and low angles, and it also tilts 60° to one side to benefit vertical orientation shooting when in live view.

• A series of dedicated dials are placed around the body to independently adjust the aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.

• The aperture ring of GF lenses and the ISO dial of the camera feature a C (Command) position, and the shutter speed dial has a T position, allowing these settings to be adjusted through the front and rear control dials.

• A secondary 1.28" LCD monitor is also included on the top plate for confirmation of settings and exposure data.

• The included NP-T125 rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides approximately 400 shots per charge when the automatic power-saving feature is enabled.

• The integrated Wi-Fi connection allows for direct wireless file sharing, as well as remote control of the camera from a linked mobile device.

117-point autofocus system
An autofocus system employing contrast detection is used, featuring a total of 117 points that can be divided into 425 points, for remarkable focusing speed and accuracy, which are especially beneficial when working with the shallow depth of field inherent to the medium format. Point selection is possible through the integrated focus lever for intuitive switching between points, and alternatively, the rear touchscreen can also be used to select precise focus areas. • It is possible to shoot tethered using the X Acquire software to send images from the camera to an active folder on your computer for further editing. Alternatively, the Tether Shooting PRO plug-in for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and HS-V5 for Windows operating systems are also available.
