Maximum image contrast
Aberrations can be seen particularly clearly in night shots with large differences in brightness. However, thanks to the excellently corrected lateral chromatic aberration, the illuminated facades are reproduced absolutely perfectly.
No color columns
Light sources in front of or behind the focal length are always a special challenge for every lens. With the ZEISS Otus, the longitudinal chromatic aberration is so small that color columns are virtually eliminated.
Apochromatic
Because this objective is an apochromatic one, chromatic aberrations (axial chromatic aberrations) are corrected with special glass elements of anomalous partial dispersion. The chromatic aberrations are therefore significant within defined limits. The bright-dark transitions in the image, and especially the reflections, are reproduced almost completely free of color artifacts.
Aspherical design
The aspherical lens design ensures consistent imaging performance across the entire focusing range and ensures sharpness at the periphery of the image. The more complex profile of the aspherical surface can reduce or eliminate spherical anomalies and also reduce other optical anomalies compared to a simple lens.
