CANON SPEEDLITE FLASH EL-10

Flash photography is an incredible way to enhance your images, but since human nature is what it is and the law of least effort prevails, and given the ISO capacity of current equipment, the reality is that few of us are eager to learn how to use the features of a flash. The Speedlite EL-10 is an affordable way to dip your toes in and see how much our images can improve in low-light situations. There are also occasions when adding a touch of light can make a difference in an image, even when the sun is shining.

One of the best features of a flash with a tilting and rotating head is the ability to swivel and bounce the light off surfaces instead of pointing it directly at the subject. The flash head can tilt back up to 90º (upwards) and can rotate 150º to the left and 180º to the right.

It has never been easier to detach the flash from the camera while still having all of its outstanding features available. We can use the flash externally using the Speedlite ST-E3-RT transmitter or directly use the flash as a master and control up to 15 units of flashes compatible with the system.

The new digital connector on the Speedlite EL-10's multifunction shoe allows for greater communication between the flash and the camera. In the case of the EL-10, superior coordination between the camera and the flash unit is achieved compared to previous Canon Speedlite flashes, including the Direct Menu function, the Customize button function, and custom flash modes. The gold-plated terminals on the shoe improve the quality of the connection, and the installation status is verified before initiating communications to ensure a reliable connection to compatible cameras such as the EOS R3, R7, R10, R50, and R6 Mark II models.

Canon's Camera Connect smartphone app allows us to have greater control over the flash settings wirelessly, being able to immediately check the results of the photographs. We can operate and configure these settings from a smartphone without touching the camera or the flash units. This is particularly useful for shooting with multiple flashes, shooting with flash units placed in hard-to-reach locations, and shooting with a limited number of assistants, allowing us to choose the location and direction of each flash unit and then use the app to adjust the light intensity while checking the shot results on the smartphone screen.
