Ready to be the new workhorse zoom, the Canon RF 24-70mm f / 2.8L IS USM is a versatile wide-angle to portrait lens that is characterized by its bright, advanced and intuitive design. The constant maximum aperture f / 2.8 adapts to work in difficult lighting conditions and also allows greater control over depth of field. The optical design incorporates a series of aspherical and ultra-low dispersion elements, which greatly reduce a variety of aberrations throughout the zoom range to produce crisp and clear images. An air sphere lining has also been applied to suppress the flashes and phantom images when working in conditions of intense lighting.

The balance between distinguished optical assets is the Nano USM focusing system, which offers fast and almost silent autofocus performance with full-time manual focus override. An image stabilizer also compensates for up to five camera shake stops to help produce sharper manual shots in difficult lighting conditions. A single control ring is also integrated into the lens design for intuitive control over exposure settings from the lens itself. In addition, this 24-70 mm is sealed against the weather and has a fluorine coating to protect the front and rear elements.

The standard wide-angle to telephoto zoom lens is designed for use with Canon mirrorless cameras with full-frame RF mount.

The Nano USM system uses a USM ring mechanism and an STM mechanism to achieve a fast and precise approach that is also smooth and almost silent to adapt to photography and video applications. This focus system also offers full-time manual focus control when working in single-shot AF mode.
The configurable control ring can be used to adjust a variety of exposure settings, including aperture, ISO and exposure compensation.
