Beyond the optical attributes, this 17-55 mm is also characterized by its advanced image stabilizer system with three effective stops to minimize the appearance of camera shake. The operation is also complemented by a sophisticated USM ring, which provides fast, quiet and precise autofocus performance along with a full-time manual focus override.

The versatile wide-angle to vertical length zoom is designed for Canon EF-S DSLR cameras with APS-C format and offers an equivalent focal length range of 27.2-88 mm.
