When shooting with our camcorder we must not forget the importance of sound. In general, the microphones integrated in our camera do not usually have a capture of sufficient quality and clarity, that is why we need special microphones for video.

DSLR lenses are very good for making videos, but in sound they are often insufficient. To improve this, there are external microphones and wireless microphones with higher sensitivities and lower noise.

An external microphone captures a crisp, clean and professional sound. In the Duke Photography catalogue you have options such as the SARAMONIC MIXMIC KIT FOR CANON or the BOYA MICROPHONE BY-PVM50, which far surpass the quality of your SLR's built-in microphone. And if you also want to complete your equipment with a great lighting, you can consult our lighting offer and form a perfect team for your recordings.

Frequently Asked Questions about Camcorder Microphones

What is the best microphone for video recording?

To find the best microphone, you need to know what you want to use it for and choose between the types that best suit your needs. So, if you are going to record interviews, it is best to opt for a lavalier microphone, to record voiceovers it is recommended to use a USB microphone and if you are going to make recordings with a reflex camera, you can get a shotgun microphone that you can insert in the top of your camera.

How is microphone quality measured?

For a microphone to be considered of excellent quality it should have a maximum sound pressure of around 150 dB, a self-noise level below 35dBA, a sensitivity value close to 1V/µbar and an impedance greater than 15,000 ohms.
