Everyday average format
The FUJIFILM The GFX100RF, a pioneering camera in its category, incorporates a 102 MP medium format sensor into a compact all-in-one design, making it the ideal camera for photographers' daily use. Combining the high resolution of medium format with a sleek and lightweight rangefinder-style body and an integrated fixed focal length wide-angle lens, this camera is perfect for travel photographers, urban photographers, and other spontaneous photographers who seek the perfect combination of refined image quality and simplicity in design.
102 MP medium format sensor and X 5 processor
Using the proven sensor from the GFX 100S II, this 102 MP and 43.8 x 32.9 mm BSI CMOS sensor offers incredible resolution, 16-bit RAW files, 10-bit HEIF, wide dynamic range, low noise with a base ISO of 80, and cropping versatility to work with nine different aspect ratios. Additionally, this camera uses the high-end X Processor 5 of FUJIFILM, which contributes to an overall fast performance for continuous shooting at up to 6 fps, recording 4K video, and using the intelligent hybrid AF system for fast and precise autofocus.
Aspect ratio dial and digital teleconverter
In addition to the impressive image quality offered by the 102 MP sensor, it also facilitates working with different aspect ratios or effective focal lengths (crops), while maintaining a high effective resolution. To encourage the use of these creative tools, the GFX100RF includes a specific aspect ratio dial on the back of the camera and a lever beneath the shutter button to control the digital teleconverter settings.
On the back of the camera, above the LCD screen, there is a dedicated dial for switching between nine different aspect ratios: 4:3, 3:4, 5:4, 1:1, 3:2, 7:6, 65:24, 17:6, and 16:9. Many of these options evoke the previous medium format film camera systems of FUJIFILM, from the native 4:3 ratio, shared by the GX680 system; the 7:6 format, shared by the GW670 and GF670 cameras; the ultra wide panoramic 65:24 ratio of the TX-1 rangefinder; and the exclusive vertical 3:4 ratio, similar to that of some cameras in the GA645 and GS645 series of 6 x 4.5.
The selected aspect ratio will be visible when working with the electronic viewfinder or the rear LCD screen when capturing JPEG + RAW or only JPEG, but the aspect ratio selections will not be visible when working with RAW recording only.
On the front of the camera, there is a toggle switch programmed to alternate between three different digital teleconverter settings: 45 mm, 63 mm, and 80 mm, reminiscent of three of the GF lenses from FUJIFILM for its GFX interchangeable lens system. Since the GFX100RF has a fixed 35mm f/4 lens, this tool takes advantage of the enormous 102 MP resolution and crops the image to simulate the field of view as if working with different focal lengths, maintaining a reasonable resolution.
Built-in 35mm f/4 wide-angle lens
The main factor contributing to the uniqueness of the GFX100RF is its built-in fixed wide-angle GF 35mm f/4 lens, which makes it a compact, fun, intuitive camera that is always ready to shoot, with the exceptional image quality expected from a medium format.
The 35mm focal length is equivalent to 28mm on full-frame cameras, providing a general wide-angle field of view suitable for a wide range of subjects, from street and documentary scenes to landscapes, interiors, and travel situations, and even close-ups thanks to a minimum focusing distance of 7.8". The maximum aperture of f/4 is effective for shooting in natural light and offers some control over depth of field, but primarily helps to reduce the size and weight of the camera for daily transport.
Internal ND and leaf shutter
Based on the X100 series cameras, the lens design of the GFX100RF also incorporates a built-in 4-stop neutral density (ND) filter and uses a leaf shutter to achieve greater exposure flexibility.
The 4-step ND provides access to slower shutter speeds or wider aperture settings when working in bright conditions; perfect for situations where you want to exaggerate subject movement with motion blur or if you want a shallower depth of field in bright and sunny conditions.
The leaf shutter design, in the typical medium format style, provides the ability to synchronize the flash with any mechanical shutter speed (up to 1/4000 sec) for creative fill flash techniques or to better freeze motion while maintaining sufficient background exposure.
Compact, elegant, and functional design
The GFX100RF is a sleek all-in-one package with a particularly portable and intuitive design that suits travel photographers, for everyday carry, and in any other situation where a combination of high image quality and a stylish, dedicated design is valued.
The design inspired by the rangefinder with an offset viewfinder is comfortable and easy to use, reminiscent of classic rangefinder film cameras, as well as the more recent digital cameras from the X100 and GFX 50R series. FUJIFILM.
Small and lightweight, the camera measures 5.3 x 3.6 x 3 inches and weighs 1.6 lb with the battery and memory cards; it is almost half an inch smaller in all dimensions and 3.5 oz lighter compared to the GFX 100S II camera body without a lens.
Machined aluminum dedicated dials for direct adjustment of shutter speed and exposure compensation, as well as dual control dials, a toggle lever for the digital teleconverter, aspect ratio dial, focus mode switch, and a manual aperture ring.
Dual slots for SD memory cards for flexible file storage.
The left side of the camera body features 3.5 mm ports for headphones and microphone, a USB-C port for charging the battery in the camera and transferring files, and a micro-HDMI port for video needs.
It operates with an NP-W235 lithium-ion battery, which is designed to provide approximately 820 frames per charge.
Weather-resistant design once the included adapter ring and filter are connected for safe and reliable use in a variety of weather conditions.
Electronic viewfinder and rear LCD screen
A 5.76 million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder displays a bright, sharp, and realistic image with a 0.84x magnification. The viewfinder information will rotate with the camera when switching between horizontal and vertical shooting orientations, and the viewfinder will also show the image field corresponding to the selected aspect ratio.
The large 3.2" LCD screen with 2.1 million pixels features a three-way tilting design to facilitate taking photos from low angles, both horizontal and vertical. Additionally, it is touchscreen for intuitive control adjustment.Configuration and selection of the focus point.
Included accessories
In addition to the usual accessories, such as the battery and charging cable, the GFX100RF also includes a snap-on metal lens cap, an adapter ring, a protective filter, a matching square lens hood with a cap, and a rope-style shoulder strap. The adapter ring attaches to the front of the integrated lens and provides 49 mm threads for connecting threaded accessories, such as the included clear filter.
4K video recording
Primarily designed as a camera for photographers, the GFX100RF makes the most of its sensor and processing power to enable high-quality DCI/UHD 4K video recording up to 30p with 10-bit color. It is possible to record H.265 and H.264 video internally on SD cards, while ProRes 422 codecs can be used when recording directly to an external SSD via the USB-C port.
Movie simulations
Following the classic style of FUJIFILM, The GFX100RF includes, of course, its full lineup of 20 different film simulation modes: Provia, Velvia, Astia, Classic Chrome, REALA ACE, PRO Neg. Std, PRO Neg. Hi, Classic Neg., Nostalgic Neg., Eterna Cinema, Eterna Bleach Bypass, Acros, Acros + Ye filter, Acros + R filter, Acros + G filter, Black and White, Black and White + Ye filter, Black and White + R filter, Black and White + G filter, and Sepia.
